The heart of this power upgrade lies in the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine, which undergoes extensive modifications to achieve such remarkable performance gains. Hennessey enhances the engine by incorporating ported cylinder heads, an HPE camshaft, and various upgraded components for the valves, lifters, and pushrods. Additionally, a larger supercharger replaces the stock unit, and the car receives oversized heat exchangers, a high-flow air intake, stainless steel headers, and revised engine management software. These enhancements work in harmony to maximize the potential of the upgraded parts.
According to Hennessey, the 1,000-hp Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is capable of sprinting from 0 to 60 miles per hour in approximately 2.5 seconds, a significant improvement compared to the stock model's time of around 3.5 seconds. In terms of quarter-mile acceleration, this higher-powered sedan completes the distance in an impressive 10.1 seconds. While Hennessey has not provided specific details about the top speed, they claim that it surpasses the standard model's already impressive 205 mph.
In addition to the exceptional power upgrade, Hennessey has chosen to leave the remaining aspects of the CT5-V Blackwing untouched. The car still retains the Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 suspension system, known for its excellent performance. Carbon-ceramic brakes, which are lighter by 53 pounds compared to the standard steel rotors, remain an optional feature for those seeking enhanced stopping power.
Inside the Blackwing's cabin, drivers are greeted by a 12.0-inch digital instrument cluster that offers three display modes: Tour, Sport, and Track. The car is equipped with advanced features such as launch control and a Performance Traction Management system, further enhancing the driving experience.
While Hennessey has not announced pricing for the 1,000-hp upgrade, interested buyers will have to wait until August 2023 to place their orders. As for the 2024 CT5-V Blackwing, it will receive several upgrades, commemorating the 20th anniversary of Cadillac's V Series models. These upgrades include special badges on the grille and front door, a new wake-up animation for the driver info display, and the addition of several vibrant colors such as Velocity Red, Cyber Yellow Metallic, Coastal Blue Metallic, and Black Diamond Tricoat. Additionally, models equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission will have the option to include GM's Super Cruise hands-free driving assist feature.
