STLA Medium is designed for multiple vehicles and powertrain configurations in the C and D segments, the compact and mid-size segments - i.e. the compact and mid-size classes. In 2022, at least 35 million vehicles were sold in these two segments, almost half of the 79 million vehicles sold worldwide.

The Stellantis brands currently offer 26 models in the C and D segments based on different platforms. In the future, up to two million vehicles per year will be based on the STLA mid-size platform. European production will start later this year.

The STLA Medium will have a range of more than 500 km in the standard version and more than 700 km with the Performance package. The batteries are designed to store up to 98 kWh of net capacity. The STLA Medium is a 400 volt platform. Ideally, electricity consumption should be less than 14 kWh/100 km. For comparison, the most economical electric car today, the Fiat 500 Electric, has a capacity of 13.0 kWh, but that is segment A. The battery should be charged from 20 to 80% in 27 minutes.

In addition to front-wheel drive (as in the previous Stellantis electrics), four-wheel drive is now also available. Power ranges from 160 to 285 kW.

According to Stellantis, the STLA Medium is suitable for cars, crossovers and SUVs. The wheelbase can be from 2700 to 2900 millimeters, the overall length from 4.3 to 4.9 meters. The ground clearance can reach more than 22 centimeters, and the wheels can be up to 75 centimeters wide.

The external dimensions of the battery are the same for all battery options, as are the mounting and cooling. The STLA platforms are already designed for future battery types, such as nickel- and cobalt-free batteries (i.e., likely LFP batteries) and solid-state batteries.

Stellantis includes Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroen, Dodge, DS, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Opel, Peugeot, Ram and Vauxhall.
