SEAT has announced its plans to construct a battery cell assembly plant in Martorell. This project marks another significant step in SEAT's electrification strategy, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable mobility.

With an additional investment of 300 million euros, SEAT aims to establish a state-of-the-art facility that will create over 400 direct jobs and more than 100 indirect jobs.

The battery cell assembly plant will not only contribute to the local economy but also support the assembly of cells manufactured by PowerCo at the gigafactory in Sagunto, Valencia. This synergistic approach highlights SEAT's commitment to optimizing logistical processes and reducing its carbon footprint.

The upcoming facility, spanning an area of 64,000 square meters (equivalent to about nine football pitches), will be integrated with Workshop 10. This integration will enable the production of various electric cars within the Volkswagen Group, including the Cupra Raval.

Construction of the battery cell assembly plant is set to commence in the coming weeks and is expected to be completed by 2025.

“This is a key moment for our industry. SEAT S.A. and the Volkswagen Group are committing major resources to achieving sustainable mobility. And to continue advancing our ambition to turn Spain into a hub for electric mobility in Europe.” says Wayne Griffiths, President of SEAT S.A.
