Android Auto and Google Maps have recently undergone updates, but unfortunately, a minor inconvenience has surfaced. In the latest version, when you disconnect from your car, the navigation app remains open, which can be quite frustrating.

Traditionally, Android Auto automatically launches Google Maps on your phone's infotainment display when connected via wired or wireless connection. You can conveniently use the navigation feature from there. However, since the recent updates, numerous users have reported that Google Maps continues to run even after leaving the car.

This issue manifests as an ongoing Google Maps notification on your Android device, displaying navigation status. Surprisingly, the notification persists even after the Android Auto session has ended and will persist until you manually select the "exit navigation" option.

Several users on Reddit have shared similar concerns, encountering this problem on various Samsung and Pixel phones, regardless of whether they are connected via wired connections or using wireless adapters such as Motorola MA1 or AAWireless.

While this issue can be easily resolved by selecting "exit navigation," it is still something that we hope will be addressed and fixed in the near future.
