Toyota has filed a trademark application in Japan for the name "Land Hopper" on August 8, 2023. It is registered in the class which includes cars, motorcycles and bicycles.

A member of the Toyota Land Cruiser Forum was the first to spot the filing. Commenters in the thread speculate that the Land Hopper could be for the small crossover in Toyota's teaser at the end of the new Land Cruiser presentation held in early August. It's in the background on the left in the image below.

Another commentator in the Toyota Land Cruiser Forum thread speculated that the name Land Hopper may refer to the three-wheeled scooter in the middle of the teaser image. The vehicle appears to be very simplistic, with handlebars, a seat, no footrests, and a single rear wheel.

The SUV portrayed on the right in the teaser image could possibly be the three-row electric SUV that Toyota is currently developing. The company has confirmed that the model will be manufactured at the automaker's plant in Georgetown, Kentucky, and will be available for production by 2025. The batteries for the SUV would be sourced from Toyota's new plant in North Carolina, which is scheduled to open in 2025.
