The Nevera completed the shorter track configuration measuring 20.6 kilometers (12.8 miles) with a time of 7:00:928. The record-breaking lap was driven by Croatian racing driver Martin Kodrić, using Michelin Cup2R tires. The set time was confirmed by independent timing data, TÜV SÜD, and on-board telemetry, as affirmed by Rimac.
Former record-holder Porsche Taycan Turbo S lost its title when the Tesla Model S Track Pack completed the track in 7:25.231. The Nevera outperformed both cars by clocking a time about 20 seconds faster than the Tesla. Watch the video below to observe how the Nevera maneuvers from corner to corner with its instant torque, while the electric motors' whine is overpowered by wind and tire noises.
Kodrić said, “We had challenging weather conditions during our practice sessions this week and have chosen what seems like one of the hottest days on the track this summer to set a lap time.” He added that the Nevera, which is supposed to be a comfortable hyper GT, is “devastatingly fast” on the track.
The on-paper performance of the electric hypercar is extraordinary. The car's motors produce 1.4 megawatts of power, equivalent to 1914 horsepower, and 1740 pound-feet of torque (2360 Newton-meters), obtaining energy from a 120-kilowatt-hour battery. The car accelerates from 0 to 60 miles per hour (96 km/h) in just 1.74 seconds, has a quarter-mile time of 8.25 seconds, and a top speed of 258 mph (412 km/h).
The fastest production vehicle around Nürburgring is currently the Mercedes-AMG One, which achieved a time of 6:35.183 in November of 2022.
