The BYD Seal U, which means "utility," will release in two LFP "blade" battery models with an 800-volt configuration: one with 71.8 kWh capability, achieving a 420-kilometer range, and another with 87 kWh capacity, reaching 500 kilometers according to the WLTP range.
BYD plans to showcase its Seal U and five other electric models for the European market at the IAA Mobility in Munich from September 5-10, 2023. The five models include the previously-launched Atto 3, Han, Tang, Dolphin, and Seal. At the event, BYD will also introduce its Chinese brand Denza, which it operates in partnership with Mercedes-Benz, and display the large van Denza D9 to the European public for the first time.
Both the Seal and its SUV counterpart "have innovative technology for security, comfort, and performance," but BYD claims that they target different groups. The electric sedan emphasizes sportiness while the five-passenger SUV emphasizes versatility, comfort, and spaciousness. However, specific technical specifications like the e-drive, charging capacity, or trunk space have yet to be disclosed.
