The updated X5 Li comes after the mid-cycle facelift for the regular X5 and X6, introduced in February this year. The vehicle benefits from an extended wheelbase, 130 millimeters (5.11 inches) longer than its global counterpart - the same treatment applied to the pre-facelift version.

An extended wheelbase provides generous legroom for rear-seat passengers. In addition, the rear doors have been widened to make entry and exit easier. Specially designed seats and exclusive features ensure comfort on long journeys.

Standard equipment on the new BMW X5 for China includes the BMW Iconic Glow kidney grille. The waterfall effect of its lighting creates an unmistakable accent, especially in the dark, and is now combined with a chrome finish.

The new edition of the BMW X5 for China is available in two equipment lines. Both models come with an M sports package as standard. The optional M Sport package Luxury offers exclusive pearlescent chrome inserts for the front and rear aprons, side skirts, air vents, side window surrounds and roof rails.

Inside the cabin, Sensafin is used for the instrument panel, door panels and model-specific comfort seats. The standard Travel & Comfort System includes USB-C ports on the backs of the front seats. A smartphone holder with inductive charging has been developed exclusively for the Chinese market. The standard panoramic glass roof is also optionally available in the Sky Lounge version.

The new X5 Li will be available in two versions: xDrive30 Li and xDrive40Li. Both now feature 48-volt mild hybrid technology.

The base model's 2.0-liter four-cylinder in-line gasoline engine produces 190 kW/258 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. It accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds.

With a displacement of 3.0 liters, the six-cylinder in-line gasoline engine in the X5 xDrive40Li generates a maximum output of 280 kW/380 hp and a maximum torque of 520 Nm. This makes it possible to sprint from a standing start to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. At very low speeds, the BMW X5 xDrive40Li can also be driven purely electrically.

The new versions of the BMW X5 for China will be produced at the Dadong plant of the BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd. joint venture in Shenyang. They will be launched in September 2023.
