Known as the Avatr 12 (spoken as "one two"), this stylish four-door vehicle is designed like a sedan but actually incorporates a hatchback in the back. Additionally, a unique feature called the Halo Display is integrated into the hood. This is a black LED screen designed to allow the car to interact with the external environment, according to the company.
The vehicle's dimensions are 5,020 mm (197.6 inches) in length, 1,999 mm (78.7 inches) in width, and 1,460 mm (57.4 inches) in height, with a 3,030 mm (119.2 inches) wheelbase. It offers two drivetrain choices, both of which employ CATL's cell-to-pack ternary lithium-ion batteries.
One version comes with a rear-wheel drive propelled by a 230-kilowatt (313 hp) electric motor. The other version, featuring all-wheel drive, uses Huawei’s dual-motor system, generating 425 kW (578 hp). Both versions utilize a 94.5-kilowatt-hour battery, delivering a driving range that varies between 650 km (403 miles) and 700 km (434 miles). However, the press statement didn’t specify the test cycle used to determine these numbers, whether it's WLTP or CLTC.
Much like the Polestar 5, the vehicle lacks a traditional rear window. Instead, it features a camera that streams real-time footage to a digital rearview mirror within the car.
The interior of the electric vehicle showcases a sprawling dashboard with floating elements. Avatr claims this design mimics the look of a sleek, winged spaceship. A full-width digital display is situated across the dashboard and functions as a 'digital window.' The central touchscreen serves as the hub for all apps and controls.
The car's roof is made of electrochromic glass that can switch from opaque to transparent with a simple switch. Additional features include concealed air vents and zero-gravity seats.
As for safety, the Avatr 12 is equipped with an impressive array of 29 sensors. This includes three Lidar sensors and a high-performing central computer, all part of the Huawei Advanced Driving System (ADS) 2.0 package.
“In a world where products are mere objects, Avatr is a friend – a mirror to your aspirations, a vessel for your essence, and a partner for your journey,” said Nader Faghihzadeh, Chief Design Officer.
Established in 2018, Avatr released its first vehicle, the 11 (said as "one one") crossover electric vehicle, in China in 2022.
