Tesla opened up 6 new locations with 100 new Superchargers in the past few days. With that, Tesla surpassed the 10,000 Supercharger mark in Europe and made a substantial contribution to the expansion of European Superchargers by 2022.
That growth is going faster this year than in any other year. According to Tesla, even one-fifth of all Supercharger charging stations in Europe will be realized by 2022.
With 10,000 chargers spread over 900 locations, the Supercharger network is currently the largest fast-charging network in Europe. By the way, it's not just Tesla drivers who profit from it. More and more locations are now available to other carmakers' EVs. Ionity, the Supercharger network's main competitor, currently has less than 2,000 chargers. That firm is aiming for 7,000 charging stations in coming years.
The Non-Tesla Supercharger Pilot program is available in the United Kingdom and select EU countries. It is currently available in France, The Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Belgium, Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Iceland.
The EV automaker offers two Supercharger plans in Europe: one for Tesla owners and another for non-Tesla owners. Non-Tesla owners must download the Tesla app-version 4.2.3 or higher-to use Supercharger stalls. According to the company, Tesla drivers are charged the same price. On the other hand, rates for non-Tesla drivers vary depending on the site. They may view the charging price through the Tesla app.
