Volkswagen has officially revealed the highly anticipated mid-cycle update for its flagship SUV, the 2024 Touareg. Packed with impressive features and stylish tweaks, the new Touareg aims to maintain its competitive edge in the lucrative SUV market.

The 2024 Touareg introduces several noteworthy changes. One striking update is the addition of light bars at the front and rear, showcasing Volkswagen's commitment to modern design trends. The wheel options range from 19 to 21 inches, while the R-Line and R trims boast larger 22-inch wheels with a sleek Silicon Gray Matt finish. For the first time on a Volkswagen manufactured in Europe, the Touareg features an illuminated badge on the tailgate.

At the front, the redesigned headlights showcase a distinctive triple "L" theme and employ advanced matrix technology with micro-LEDs, similar to the 2024 Porsche Cayenne. Called the IQ. Light HD LED matrix, each headlight consists of an impressive 19,216 individually controllable micro LEDs. This technology ensures superior illumination even in the darkest conditions, without causing discomfort to oncoming drivers. The taillights have also been revamped, incorporating the same stylish trio of L-shaped elements.

Inside the cabin, the 2024 Touareg offers a continuation of its luxurious and high-tech features. The Innovision Cockpit, featuring a fully digital 12-inch instrument cluster and a 15-inch touchscreen, comes as standard. The infotainment system has been enhanced to support high-resolution HD map data with lane-level navigation, along with improved voice control and wireless compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Volkswagen has also updated the switchgear, adding a glossy black finish, and introduced updated ambient lighting with "Touareg" lettering on the passenger side of the dashboard. Additionally, the Touareg now offers more powerful USB-C ports, an optional head-up display, and an impressive 730-watt Dynaudio sound system for those seeking the ultimate audio experience.

Under the hood, the 2024 Touareg is powered exclusively by V6 engines. Unfortunately, the beloved V8 diesel engine, previously shared with the Bentley Bentayga and Audi SQ7, has been discontinued since the Last Edition in 2020. The engine options include a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 gasoline engine with 335 horsepower (250 kW) and two versions of the 3.0-liter V6 TDI diesel engine, offering either 228 horsepower (170 kW) or 282 horsepower (210 kW). For those interested in an electrified powertrain, the eHybrid combines a 3.0-liter V6 gasoline engine with an electric motor, delivering a total output of 375 horsepower (280 kW). The range-topping Touareg R variant boosts the power to an impressive 456 horsepower (340 kW).

All versions of the 2024 Touareg come standard with 4Motion all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Volkswagen's engineers have also made improvements to the standard steel and optional air suspension systems, enhancing the vehicle's overall comfort. The addition of a roof load sensor allows the onboard computers to adjust transverse forces accordingly, enhancing agility based on the load's characteristics.

The 2024 Touareg lineup includes four trim levels: Basic, Elegance, R-Line, and R. Pricing starts at €69,200 and goes up to €93,870, offering customers a range of options to suit their preferences and budget.
