IWC Schaffhausen, the esteemed Swiss watchmaker, has released two special variants of the Big Pilot's Watch, honoring the iconic Mercedes-Benz G-Class and their mutual legacy of practicality and timeless design.

The Big Pilot's Watch AMG G 63 boasts a lavish feel with its 18-carat Armor Gold casing and crown, paired with a black face and a black rubber wristband featuring a microfiber lining. The refined color palette of black and gold is influenced by the latest Mercedes-AMG G 63 Grand Edition. Armor Gold, a groundbreaking metal alloy, amplifies the gold's resilience to wear and tear. Sandblasted finishes and glossy contours give this exceptional timepiece a modern flair.

Besides the Armor Gold model, IWC also launched the Big Pilot's Watch AMG G 63 encased in ceramic matrix composite (CMC). Created in partnership with the German Aerospace Center (DLR), this material is exceptionally durable and thermally stable, making it well-suited for high-stress uses.

Both Big Pilot's Watch versions pay tribute to the G-Class through design elements like subdials located at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock that mimic the SUV's headlights. The black faces of the watches incorporate a textured, relief-like design reminiscent of Mercedes-AMG performance vehicles and come with black PVD-coated markers filled with luminous material.

Inside their striking casings, both timepieces are driven by IWC's in-house 52010 calibre, an extremely reliable and accurate automatic movement. Select components of the winding system are made from zirconium oxide ceramic, enhancing durability. These mechanisms offer an impressive seven-day power reserve, visible through the tinted sapphire crystal back adorned with a Mercedes-Benz star, evoking the G-Class's spare wheel cover.

Both the 18-carat Armor Gold and CMC editions of the Big Pilot's Watch AMG G 63 can be purchased at IWC stores and online. They are also eligible for the My IWC care program, which extends the standard 2-year International Limited Warranty by an additional 6 years. These watches merge the storied pasts of two legendary brands, providing aficionados the opportunity to sport a blend of functional heritage and modern luxury on their wrists.
