The 2024 Nissan Frontier's Hardbody Edition takes inspiration from Nissan's iconic 1980s Hardbody, seamlessly melding classic design with today's technology. This modern yet retro truck is sure to attract attention both on the highway and on dirt roads.

Originally known for its toughness and dependability, Nissan has revitalized the essence of the classic Hardbody in a modern context. First revealed earlier this month, the 2024 Frontier Hardbody Edition is crafted from the fully loaded Crew Cab SV 4x4 variant, and immediately grabs attention with its heritage-infused design features.

Among these are the 17-inch three-spoke, old-school alloy wheels that honor the original Hardbody's design, alongside all-terrain tires that gear the truck up for any adventure. Elements like an aluminum skid plate, black wheel arch extensions, a black side rail, mudguards, and a bed-mounted rail add to the truck's robust, retro charm.

If you're a fan of design minutiae, you'll appreciate that the Hardbody Edition comes with black-coated bumpers, mirrors, door grips, and a front grille, giving the truck a unified look. Black decals include a bold "4x4" insignia on the front doors, and a unique "Nissan" cut-out graphic on the tailgate, substituting the conventional Nissan badge.

While the Hardbody Edition celebrates its retro lineage, the 2024 Frontier lineup also introduces a new SL grade for customers interested in additional comfort and amenities. This grade supersedes the SV Premium Package, and offers upscale touches like LED headlights, fog lights, daytime running lights, and enhanced cabin lighting. The SL grade also features leather seats, front seat warmers, and a heated leather steering wheel for a more luxurious feel.

In terms of utility, the Frontier comes equipped with 120-volt outlets in the truck bed and the rear middle console, ideal for powering up tools or electronic devices on the move. Additional features such as a power-activated sunroof, in-bed liner, Utili-Track System with customizable tie-down cleats, remote start function, and dual-zone climate control make the truck versatile for both work and leisure scenarios.

Mechanically, the 2024 Frontier retains its 310-horsepower, 3.8-liter direct-injection V6 engine, mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox. This combination, supported by a sturdy ladder frame, allows for a towing capability of up to 6,640 pounds (3,011 kilograms). An electronic shift-on-the-fly function simplifies the transition between 2WD, 4HI, and 4LO drive modes.

As for safety, all 2024 Frontier grades now come standard with Intelligent Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking that includes Pedestrian Detection.

The 2024 Nissan Frontier, featuring both the eye-catching Hardbody Edition and the amenity-rich SL grade, is expected to enter the U.S. market at a starting MSRP of $29,770.

On a closing note, Nissan debuted the current Frontier model in 2022 after maintaining the previous version for almost 17 years. Production of the present truck is planned to continue through 2029, with an all-new iteration — possibly electric — slated for a 2030 release.
