Ford Bronco is significantly more expensive in China than in the USA, where the SUV originated. But it looks like the Blue Oval has found a way to make the vehicle more affordable for its customers

A newly released Ford Bronco is currently priced from $96,200 to $165,000 (700,000 – 1,200,000 Chinese Yuans) in the Chinese market, more than twice the cost of the same vehicle in the U.S. Ford has finally addressed this issue by introducing a locally made Bronco for the Chinese audience. The initial images of this SUV have been released, and they indicate only minor differences from the U.S. version.

The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has disclosed the inaugural pictures of the Chinese-produced Bronco, highlighting a modest Ford inscription on the front grille, situated above the Bronco name. Metrics from MIIT indicate that the Bronco tailored for the Chinese market is marginally wider and taller than its American counterpart, possibly due to variations in wheels and wheel arches.

Based on local reports, the Chinese version of the Bronco houses a 2.3-liter engine. The engine, manufactured by the Changan Ford joint venture, delivers 271 horsepower and 455 Newton-meters (336 pound-feet) of torque. This makes it a bit less potent than the U.S. version, which generates 300 hp and 440 Nm (325 lb-ft) of torque. This four-cylinder turbo engine is expected to be coupled with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, unlike the 10-speed automatic found in the American Bronco. No substantial alterations are slated for the cabin.

Production of the Chinese Bronco is projected to commence in early 2024. Local media reports suggest that it will hit the market with a starting price tag of roughly $41,200 (300,000 Chinese Yuan), making it significantly more affordable than before. MIIT's released images display two distinct four-door Broncos, potentially indicating that a two-door variant will not be offered in China. Multiple trim options and equipment packages will be accessible, although details on the full range are still limited.
