There are Guinness World Records for many things you'd never expect. For example, Suzuki SUVs at the Jimny Gathering 2023 in Clarens, South Africa, achieved the "Most cars to switch on their lights simultaneously" when 796 owners switched on their vehicle's headlights.

The Jimny Gathering took place from September 22 to 24, 2023, and the record attempt took place on the 24th. The rules stated that owners had to turn on their vehicle's lights within five seconds for the attempt to count.

In addition to the Guinness record attempt, visitors to the Jimny Gathering were able to take part in an off-road trip through the Maluti Mountains in the Golden Gate Highlands National Park. Suzuki also hosted the Safari Town Music Festival in Clarens Town Square, featuring South African bands and DJs. There were also food stalls, bars and local craft vendors.

The soon-to-be-released five-door Suzuki Jimny was also on display for visitors to the event. While the 3-door version of the Jimny sold in Japan measures 3,395 millimeters (133.7 inches) in length, the global 3-Door model is longer at 3,645 mm (143.5 in). The new 5-Door model is even larger, measuring 3,985 mm (157 in) in length and 2,590 mm (102 in) in wheelbase. The vehicle also stands 1,645 mm (64.8 in) wide and 1,720 mm (67.7 in) tall.

At least in India, buyers get a mild hybrid 1.5-liter four-cylinder powertrain that produces 105 horsepower and 134 Nm (99 lb-ft) of torque. The engine is mated to either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic. The transfer case offers 2WD high, 4WD high and 4WD low settings.
