Tesla owners with the new iPhone 15 Pro have quickly begun to take advantage of the phone's new customizable "Action Button," which was installed in Apple's new smartphone in place of the ring/silent switch in all previous iPhones.

The new iPhone 15 Pro now features an "Action Button" that can be programmed to perform a shortcut of the user's choice. While the button can be used to do things like open the camera app, start a voice memo, or turn your flashlight on or off, some Tesla owners use it as a key fob.

With just one press of a button, you can unlock your electric vehicle, open the trunk, roll down the windows, or even turn on the air conditioning without turning on your phone's screen or even taking it out of your pocket.

Some context for non-Tesla drivers: Teslas don't come with a physical key fob, and instead are typically controlled by an app or unlocked with a key card.

Apple users have always had the ability to create specific shortcuts for a variety of actions to control their car on their iPhone, available as virtual shortcuts through a widget or homescreen icon. But the new "Action Button" on iPhone 15 Pro allows users to trigger one of these shortcuts in a more convenient and tactile way, without having to worry about waking their iPhone or navigating the homescreen.
