DeLorean Next Generation Motors (DNG) has announced that they are working on a supercar influenced by the C8-generation Chevrolet Corvette, in addition to a special tribute car to John Z. DeLorean.
DNG Motors first grabbed attention a year ago with the unveiling of their first car, the Model JZD. DNG, founded by Kathryn DeLorean, John Z. DeLorean's daughter, is separate from the DeLorean company that's producing an all-electric Alpha5. DNG aims to honor John Z. DeLorean in a unique way.
The company plans to introduce a mid-engined sports car based on the Corvette. Although the name for this model hasn't been finalized, DNG told Hagerty that it will be more affordable and easier to own than the Model JZD. The choice of the C8 Corvette as a foundation makes sense, given John Z. DeLorean’s 17-year career at GM and his time as the Chevrolet chief, where he advocated for a mid-engined Corvette with Zora Arkus-Duntov.
Work on this new model is still in the early phases. According to Kathryn DeLorean, the car will feature a custom body design, complete with gullwing doors, reminiscent of the original DMC-12. Specific changes to the engine and other performance aspects are still being decided, but the company plans to collaborate with various aftermarket performance experts.

Preliminary design sketches of the new model have been shared by Ángel Guerra, but it's still unclear how closely the final product will adhere to these concepts. Kathryn DeLorean stated that creating a Corvette-based DeLorean allows her to "allows me to finish my dad’s story. I’m building him his dream car.."
Lastly, DNG’s Model JZD will be the flagship of the company's offerings. It will be handcrafted and priced well above the expected $125,000 price tag for the Alpha5 from the other DeLorean firm. Production will be limited to just 42 units globally.
