Though Infiniti has been slow to embrace electric cars, the company is determined to make a grand entrance. Teased by the elegant Vision Qe concept, which will be unveiled this week at Japan Mobility, Infiniti's inaugural electric car aims to be a "sleek" performance sedan. The design is expected to maintain many of the aesthetic elements featured in the concept.
A key highlight is that the Vision Qe showcases a refreshed version of Infiniti's "Artistry in Motion" design philosophy, complete with its hallmark single fluid motion line that flows from the hood, across the fenders, and towards the rear of the vehicle. The familiar Infiniti "double arch" grille design remains, but the traditional grille insert has been replaced with distinct lighting features stretching across the front bumper.

The car features ultra-thin, hook-shaped headlights that merge into the front fenders, an element Infiniti calls its "digital piano key" design. The pronounced lower section of the front bumper adds an aggressive touch and employs LEDs to emphasize its geometric form. Even the Infiniti emblem on the hood is lit up.
Information about key specs such as horsepower, battery size, and driving range is still under wraps. However, Infiniti assures that the car will offer a "performance" experience featuring an "engaging all-electric drive." Currently, the most potent models in Infiniti's lineup are the Q50 and Q60 Red Sport, both of which boast 400 horsepower, leaving room for potential enhancements.
The Vision Qe marks Infiniti's first step into electric vehicle production, though the timing for its official launch is not yet confirmed. Following the sedan, an electric SUV is in the pipeline, along with two gasoline models set to be introduced next year.
Set to make its appearance in 2024 is the new Infiniti QX80, taking inspiration from this year's QX Monograph concept. Also arriving in 2024 is the Infiniti QX65 crossover coupe, which will be modeled after the existing QX60 but will feature design cues similar to the QX55.
