Spanning more than 10,000 square meters—about the size of 15 tennis courts—the new solar installation will produce over 2 GWh of clean electricity each year, thanks to its 5,400-plus photovoltaic modules. This amount of energy could fully power around 25,000 Enyaq 85 vehicles.
Tomáš Kubín, the Managing Director of ŠKO-ENERGO, elaborated on the project's expansive scope at Škoda Auto’s main production site: "This project is designed to generate over 2 GWh of emission-free electricity annually and represents another major step towards producing carbon-neutral energy for Škoda Auto. The installation of 5,468 solar modules on the roofs of three halls was indeed a challenging endeavour. Completing another project with Škoda Auto and ČEZ, following our successful installation at the Service Center in Kosmonosy in 2019, reinforces our strong partnership."
This isn't the first time Škoda Auto, ČEZ ESCO, and ŠKO-ENERGO have joined forces on solar energy initiatives. Their first partnership began in late 2019 when solar modules were installed at the Škoda Auto Service Center in Kosmonosy. Covering an area of about 2,200 square meters, these panels generate over 450 MWh annually, fulfilling nearly 17% of the Service Center’s energy requirements.
In February 2021, the trio expanded their partnership with plans to build a new solar facility featuring a total of 5,468 state-of-the-art solar panels: 3,020 at the Škoda Parts Center, 1,328 at the U6C hall, and 1,120 at the M12L hall. These panels are projected to offer a nominal output of 2,146 kilowatt-peak (kWp).
