The Ford Mustang California Special is making a return for the 2024 model year, and it's based on the GT.

This special edition is available in both coupe and convertible body styles and offers a choice between a six-speed manual transmission or an optional ten-speed automatic.

As the name suggests, the 2024 GT California Special pays tribute to the original GT/CS from 56 years ago, incorporating retro design elements. One of the notable changes is the introduction of Rave Blue accents on the front air intakes, which flank a redesigned grille featuring horizontal slats in place of the previous honeycomb pattern.

The headlight bezels have been darkened, and more Rave Blue accents can be found on the 5.0, GT, and GT/CS badges. A two-tone decal runs along the bottom of the profile, and there are two wheel options for the 19-inch wheels. You can go with the standard Carbonized Gray wheels adorned by a Rave Blue GT/CS logo or opt for the Performance Pack wheels, featuring a machined face and additional Rave Blue accents.

Inside the cabin, the seats are wrapped in perforated Navy Pier and Ebony Black leather, with noticeable Raptor Blue and Metal Gray stitching on the door cards and dashboard. The same stitching can be found on the center console and steering wheel. Unique floor mats and a "California Special" badge on the passenger side of the dashboard complete the interior updates.

If you're interested in giving your Mustang GT a California Special makeover, Ford offers this package for an additional $1,995 on top of the Mustang GT Premium price.

You can catch a glimpse of the 2024 GT/CS at a cars and coffee event in SoCal on November 11, followed by its appearance at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show on November 16. In the meantime, you can visit Ford's website to configure and place an order for this special edition Mustang.
