As of now, a total of 1,125,182 new cars sport these alternative propulsion systems, accounting for a significant 47.7 percent of the overall 2,357,025 new passenger cars registrations during this period.
Of particular interest is the rise of electric propulsion systems, which encompass Electric (BEV), Plug-In, and Fuel Cell technologies. A total of 564,584 new cars, constituting 24.0 percent of the registrations, featured these electric systems. This figure represents a +1.4 percent growth when compared to the registration numbers from 2022.
Delving deeper into the realm of Electric (BEV) vehicles, which stands for Battery Electric Vehicles, the surge is even more evident. Registrations for Electric (BEV) passenger cars have witnessed a +37.8 percent increase compared to the same period last year. These vehicles now make up a significant 18.0 percent of the total registration volume for the reporting period, with a total of 424,623 units on the road.
As we move forward into 2024, it will be interesting to see how these numbers continue to evolve and shape the future of the automotive landscape.
