As of April, Hertz's extensive fleet comprises "tens of thousands" of EVs, specifically 50,000, available across over 2,000 locations in 44 U.S. states. EVgo complements this with a widespread presence, boasting more than 950 fast charging stations across over 35 states.
The promotion targets new EVgo customers, exempting them from monthly subscription and session fees for one year. However, EVgo clarifies that rates will differ based on region and time of day, and this discount does not cover applicable taxes and fees. The offer is valid solely on EVgo's own network, with specific pricing and terms available on the EVgo app.
This collaboration not only aims to attract new customers to Hertz and EVgo but also to provide a practical way for potential EV buyers to experience EV ownership, including public charging, before making a purchase decision.
Hertz's current EV fleet includes models from Tesla, Polestar, and General Motors. However, the expansion of their EV segment has been tempered recently due to factors such as Tesla's price reductions and higher-than-anticipated vehicle repair costs.
Wayne Davis, Hertz's Chief Marketing Officer, emphasized the company's commitment to delivering an outstanding rental experience with a diverse vehicle range. "We’re thrilled to partner with EVgo to provide our EV renters with more affordable and accessible charging options to support a smooth journey,” said Davis.
