Looking Back
On December 1, 2019, Tesla's single motor variant boasted a price of $39,900 and a range exceeding 250 miles (402+ km).
Today's Reality
Fast forward to the present, the base rear-wheel drive version, expected in 2025, is priced at $60,990 – a sharp increase of $21,090 or nearly 53%. The range remains around 250 miles (402 km), and acceleration from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) is estimated at 6.5 seconds, aligning with initial projections.
Dual-Motor Variant
Initially priced at $49,900, the dual-motor all-wheel drive variant now stands at $79,990. Despite the price hike, the range has improved from an estimated 300+ miles (483 km) to about 340 miles (547 km). Acceleration to 60 mph (0-96 km/h) matches the original sub-4.5 seconds prediction. Its towing capacity has also increased from 10,000+ lbs (4,536+ kg) to 11,000 lbs (4,990 kg).
The Cyberbeast: Tri-Motor Variant
Originally projected at $69,900 with a range over 500 miles (805+ km) and a towing capacity beyond 14,000 lbs (6,350+ kg), the tri-motor 'Cyberbeast' now stands at $99,990. Its range has decreased to 320 miles (515 km), and the towing capacity is adjusted to 11,000 lbs (4,990 kg). However, it can still impressively accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 2.6 seconds.
