For decades, automakers have utilized Sweden's icy lakes for testing their vehicles. Recently, these brands have also offered fans a chance to experience their latest models in these extreme conditions.

AMG, known for its winter driving events since 2007, is introducing an exciting addition to its 2024 winter program: an overland adventure in the G-Class SUV.

The G-Class Winter Expedition, a four-day journey, invites AMG owners to explore between Arvidsjaur and Kiruna in northern Sweden. This unique tour allows participants to venture off the beaten path and test the G-Class's off-road prowess through various dynamic driving exercises. Participants will also enjoy a nighttime snowmobile excursion and stay at the renowned ICE Hotel. Priced at €9,390 ($10,300), this experience promises a blend of culinary delights and exhilarating driving.

However, for those seeking intense driving thrills, the classic AMG driver training on Lake Galtisjaure near Arjeplog remains a top choice. The ice there measures a remarkable 60 mm (2.4 inches) thick. Courses, including one inspired by Germany's Nurburgring Nordschleife, offer drivers of all skill levels the opportunity to refine their techniques and push various AMG models to their limits.

These courses range from three to five days, with prices starting at €2,090 ($2,300) for an introductory three-day course. Advanced participants can opt for personalized coaching from the AMG training team, complete with data and video analysis, for the ultimate Pro Plus experience at €12,490 ($13,700). The fleet for these icy adventures includes a range from the A45 S to the SL63 and G63, ensuring a memorable and diverse driving experience.
