The Defense Procurement Agency, a state-owned enterprise of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, has announced a tender for the purchase of 1,016 pickup trucks.

Information about the tender is published on the Ukrainian public procurement portal Prozorro. According to the documents, the expected cost of purchasing the vehicles is UAH 1,749,865,263 (approximately $47,052,844 at the current exchange rate).

Thus, the cost of one pickup truck is expected to be no more than UAH 1,722,308 (USD 46,312).

The vehicles must be double-cab pickup trucks with 4x4 all-wheel drive, a minimum ground clearance of 180 mm and an engine of at least 120 horsepower. Vehicles must also be equipped with a tow bar.

Proposals must be submitted by the end of the day on December 27, 2023. All vehicles must be delivered to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine by March 15, 2024. The final payment to the supplier will be made only after the vehicles have been delivered.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces use the pickup trucks as part of mobile fire teams hunting Iranian-Russian Shahed/Geran loitering munition. The vehicles are also used to transport equipment, ammunition, personnel, transport the wounded, and as mobile workshops for vehicle repairs.

It should be noted that the Ukrainian market offers pickup trucks that meet the tender requirements. For example, a Peugeot Landtrek Active with a double cab, a 1.9 HDi diesel engine with 150 hp, 4x4 all-wheel drive and a manual transmission costs UAH 1,276,500 (USD 34,324). And the Mitsubishi L200 Invite with a 2.4L 154 hp diesel engine, 4WD all-wheel drive and manual transmission costs UAH 1,399,000 (USD 37,618).
