The facelifted version of the VW Golf was shown in the company's official video, which is dedicated to the work done this year. At the end of the video, CEO Thomas Schäfer announced that the updated Golf will be available next year.
Judging by the roof rails, we're looking at the Golf wagon. It has the new headlights. The "unibrow" LED light bar remains, bisected by an illuminated VW badge. When the Touareg facelift was introduced earlier this year, it also had a backlit badge, but at the rear.
The Golf Mk8.5 will remain in production for about four more years, unless Volkswagen suddenly changes plans. In 2028 there will be an exclusively electric Golf Mk9 on the new SSP platform. It is possible that these two cars will be produced in parallel for some time. The company plans to completely abandon cars with internal combustion engines in Europe from 2033.
