Latvia has already sent 271 cars confiscated from drunk drivers to Ukraine. The total estimated value of these cars is about 1 million euros.

According to the State Revenue Service of Latvia, 271 confiscated cars worth a total preliminary amount of 903,453 euros were handed over to Ukraine this year.

As Delfi reported, documents on the transfer of another 34 cars are being prepared now. They are valued at 161,880 euros.

How Latvia made possible the transfer of confiscated cars to Ukraine

On 16 February this year, the Latvian Saeima passed a law in support of Ukraine. This law allows vehicles confiscated from drivers who were driving under the influence of alcohol to be donated to the Ukrainian government.

The confiscated vehicles are being delivered to Ukraine by a convoy led by Reinis Pozniak. He started sending vehicles to help Ukraine in February 2022 and has delivered more than 1,100 vehicles since the project started.
