As reported by the Daily Telegraph, these cars were linked to a single drug trafficker, Hakan Ayik. Ayik, the alleged leader of the Comanchero Motorcycle gang in Australia, is reported to have amassed a fortune of about $1 billion. He, along with 36 associates, was arrested in Istanbul last month.
Turkish Interior Minister Yerlikaya said of the arrest on X: “As a result of the successful operations carried out by our Istanbul Police Department against organized crime organizations, 23 vehicles were seized. Following the court decision, these vehicles were handed over to our police."
Looking ahead, these cars will be deployed by Turkey's traffic police. This development serves as a caution to anyone considering speeding through Istanbul's streets.
