Volkswagen is advancing its plans to reintroduce the Scout brand. We might see the first Scout models earlier than anticipated.

The teaser video, lasting 1 minute and 22 seconds, is intriguing but short on details. However, it concludes with a significant reveal: the launch of the first model is set for the summer of 2024.

Last year's initial Scout teaser presented a rugged SUV and a pickup truck, both echoing the design of the classic International Harvester Scout. Produced from 1960 to 1980, the original Scout was a direct rival to Jeep. The modern versions will differ notably in their powertrains, as the Scout brand is now dedicated to electric vehicles.

While Scout is under Volkswagen's umbrella, its technology won't be entirely derived from the Wolfsburg-based company. Instead, the brand will utilize a custom platform tailored for off-road performance. It's yet to be confirmed if the electric powertrain will feature two motors, or if more powerful three- or four-motor variants are also planned.

An intriguing rumor suggests that Audi might introduce its version of the Scout SUV, potentially competing with the upcoming electric Mercedes-Benz G-Class. However, this information remains unconfirmed for now.
