Chery has officially expanded its new energy vehicle lineup with the launch of the Fengyun A8 plug-in hybrid sedan in China. The Fengyun A8 is available starting at 119,900 yuan (approximately 16,700 USD), catering to a broad spectrum of consumers.

The compact Fengyun A8 sedan measures 4,780 mm in length, 1,843 mm in width, and 1,487 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,790 mm. Customers can select from four elegant exterior colors: black, white, gray, and blue.

The sedan features a prominent trapezoidal grille that seamlessly integrates with the headlights, creating a striking front appearance. The rear design includes an upturned tail above the trunk, enhancing the car's dynamic look. This is complemented by through-type taillights and a concealed exhaust, with wheel options of 16 or 17 inches.

The interior boasts a 12.3-inch instrument panel and central control screen, along with a four-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel. These are powered by Chery's advanced Lion 5.0 operating system, with high-end models equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip.

Standard features across all models include navigation, OTA updates, Bluetooth, app-based remote control, and karaoke functions, with support for both CarPlay and HiCar.

High-end models also offer a level 2 advanced driving assistance system, featuring front and rear collision warnings, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control over the full speed range, and lane merge assist.

The Fengyun A8 is powered by Chery's Kunpeng Super Performance Electric Hybrid C-DM system. This includes a fifth-generation ACTECO 1.5TGDI hybrid engine (115 kW/220 Nm) paired with a permanent magnet synchronous motor (150 kW/310 Nm), connected to a DHT150 transmission. The total system output is 265 kW with a torque of 530 Nm, enabling a 0 – 100 km/h sprint in just 7 seconds.

It also features an 18.3 kWh lithium battery, offering a 127 km pure electric range (CLTC) and an impressive comprehensive range of over 1,400 km (WLTC). Fast charging takes only 19 minutes to charge the battery from 30% to 80%, while a slower charge completes in three hours, as per Chery's specifications.
