Chris Bangle, former BMW design chief, has recently commented on Xiaomi’s foray into electric vehicles with their new SU7 sedan.

Chris Bangle, recognized for his pivotal role and contentious tenure at BMW, has expressed his approval of Xiaomi's electric sedan, the SU7. Bangle, who now operates his own design studio, acknowledges the SU7 as a commendable entry in Xiaomi's expansion into the automotive sector.

The SU7 is equipped with dual motors that produce a combined power of 673 hp (495 kW), enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.78 seconds. The vehicle also features a 101 kWh battery, providing a range of up to 800 km per charge.

Chris Bangle praised the SU7's design for its balanced proportions and well-designed interior. He perceives the vehicle as an important entry point for Xiaomi, aligning with the company's direction. Bangle's feedback, given his background in automotive design, is noteworthy.

“I see this vehicle for Xiaomi as being an emotional entry point. It’s kind of a crux point,” said Bangle. “My first reaction was, I think it fits the Xiaomi world, where they’re going […] This is the right start.”
