Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its cutting-edge MB.OS infotainment system at CES 2024, set to debut in the Mercedes-Benz Concept CLA-Class and later extend to various models built on the Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA).

The standout feature of this new operating system is the advanced MBUX Virtual Assistant. This AI-driven system boasts the most human-like interface ever seen in a Mercedes-Benz. It relies on generative artificial intelligence (AI) and proactive intelligence to provide users with tailored assistance. The MBUX Virtual Assistant can make helpful suggestions based on learned behavior and situational context. For instance, it can play the latest news in the morning or activate the driver's preferred massage program after a long workday.

The MBUX Virtual Assistant comes with four distinct 'personality traits': natural, predictive, personal, and empathetic. It aims to replicate a conversation with a friend, eliminating the need for the traditional "Hey Mercedes" prompt. The system can now answer questions and seek clarification by posing intelligent queries of its own. To add a human touch, it employs a star avatar on the central infotainment display to convey different moods, from calm to excited.

Additionally, the MB.OS introduces the MBUX Surround Navigation system, featuring advanced 3D graphics to provide passengers with a detailed world map. It can display various traffic elements, including cars, vans, trucks, cyclists, and pedestrians near the road. The system overlays route guidance on the display, making navigation simpler than ever.

The MB.OS system also brings several other features, such as an upgrade to video streaming services through the RIDEVU service from Sony Pictures Entertainment and a range of arcade-style video games through a partnership with Antstream.
