Renault is preparing a larger version of the Captur crossover for its debut. The car, tentatively known as the Grand Captur, will be longer and roomier, putting it in the same class as the Nissan Qashqai.

According to Auto Express the new enlarged Renault Captur is labelled as DJB in the company's internal documentation. The crossover will be about 4.40 metres long. For comparison, the length of the regular Renault Captur of the second generation (produced in Spain since 2019) is 4.22 metres. thus in the Renault model range the new model will take a place between the Captur and Austral.

The new Grand Captur can be seen as a replacement for the Megane with internal combustion engine, which will be withdrawn from sale in the near future. Like the regular Captur, the upcoming big brother will be based on the CMF-B HS platform and will adopt some of the brand's latest design elements. These include vertical LED headlights like the redesigned Clio hatchback and a grille in the style of the coupe-like Rafale crossover.

Given the shared platform, it is likely that the Grand Captur will use the same engines as the Captur. Thus, the engine line-up could consist of a turbocharged 1.3 mild hybrid with 140bhp, a 1.6 full hybrid with 143bhp and a 1.6 plug-in hybrid with 159bhp.

As for pricing, the Renault Grand Capture can start from €28,000-29,000 as a mild hybrid or full hybrid. The plug-in hybrid could cost between €36,000 and €37,000 in the entry-level version.
