The hatchback in the sketches that Andreas Mindt has published looks like a camouflaged sample that Volkswagen showed at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 in Las Vegas in early January. You can see the new headlights with a single layout instead of the previous dual layout. The taillights have a more pronounced pixelated pattern. It looks like the Golf will also get a more refined grille.
The upcoming eighth-generation VW Golf update will be an interim update for the model. Apart from point design changes, the car will get a larger 12.9-inch centre infotainment display and a 10.4-inch digital instrument cluster.
VW Golf (2024)
The latest generation of the VW MIB infotainment platform features improved performance and image quality. The system also integrates an updated IDA voice assistant based on ChatGPT AI. The criticised touchscreen controls on the steering wheel will be replaced by more traditional physical buttons in the style of the Golf 7th generation.
The official unveiling of the updated 8th generation VW Golf will take place later this month. The event will be timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the model, which has passed the 37 million sold mark during its existence. Pre-sales are expected to start in spring 2024.
