Audi's plant in Hungary will produce MEBeco engines for VW Group's small electric cars

The first equipment for the production of MEBeco electric motors has already arrived at the Audi Hungaria plant in Győr.

MEBeco stands for Modularer E-Antriebs-Baukasten or "Modular Electric Drive System". In the future, MEBeco units will be installed in small electric vehicles of the Volkswagen Group. A new production site is being set up at Audi Hungaria for their production.

The Audi Hungaria plant also revealed some details of the future production. It is noted that the launch of the new technological process requires serious preparation of infrastructure and personnel, including the acquisition of new competences. For example, the plate package for MEBeco will be mass-produced at the plant for the first time. In addition, rotors and power electronics will be produced there.

The company also added that the MEBeco project contributes to the preservation of 260 jobs.

In 2023, the Audi Hungaria plant produced a total of 1,660,425 engines, including 114,058 electric engines.
