The YangWang U9 electric supercar will be unveiled on 25 February, but the brand representatives shared information about the novelty without waiting for the official event.

YangWang is a new electric vehicle and hybrid brand from BYD, launching in early 2023. The YangWang range currently includes one vehicle: the U8 SUV priced from 1,096,000 yuan ($150,000) for the range extender version (EREV). The U8 will be joined by the U9 electric supercar very soon.

The dimensions of the YangWang U9 are 4,966 / 2,029 / 1,295 mm with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm. BYD has revealed the extensive use of carbon fibre in the body structure of the YangWang U9. However, the curb weight of the U9 is 2,475kg. That's almost twice as much as the Porsche 911 (992). The battery pack alone weighs 633kg.

The YangWang U9 is powered by four BYD electric motors. The peak power of each motor is 240 kW (322 hp). The total power of the vehicle reaches 960 kW (1,287 hp). YangWang officials said that the system has a maximum torque of 1,680 Nm. As a result, the YangWang U9 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2 seconds.

The YangWang U9 is equipped with a DiSus-X chassis. The DiSus-X suspension can lift each wheel at speeds of up to 500 mm/s for more efficient cornering, launching and braking. In a recent promo video, BYD also showed the U9 dancing. This feature is the reason why the supercar has been nicknamed "dancing".

Under the floor of the U9 is an 80 kWh LFP battery pack. The range in the Chinese CLTC cycle is 465 kilometres.

BYD will produce the YangWang U9 in Shenzhen. The price has not yet been disclosed, it is possible that it will be announced at the presentation on 25 February.
