Toyota is recalling 280,000 pickup trucks and SUVs in the U.S. because of transmission problems. The automaker says it can be fixed with a software update by specialists at official service stations.
The recall includes the 2022-2024 Toyota Tundra and Tundra Hybrid, the 2023-2024 Sequoia and the 2022-2024 Lexus LX 600. All of these vehicles use a 10-speed automatic transmission manufactured by Aisin AW. As it turns out, there is a situation in these vehicles where the D mode does not switch off immediately when the transmission selector is moved to the N position. If the driver does not pay attention to this, the car may continue to move forward.
The automaker said it will inform customers by April this year. Owners of said Toyota and Lexus can call the respective brands' customer service for more information.
