There will never be another car like this, if you could even call it a car.
At its unveiling in 2017, the Tesla Roadster was claimed to accelerate to 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 1.9 seconds, to 100 mph (160 km/h) 2.3 seconds later and a top speed of around 250 mph (402 km/h). The range was supposed to be 620 miles (997 kilometres). In addition, Musk then announced some sort of additional rocket engine, developed with SpaceX, that would allow the roadster to accelerate to 60 mph in 1.1 seconds.
Now Musk claims that the production version of the roadster will be able to accelerate to 60 mph in less than 1.0 second. This is significantly faster than the 1.95 second acceleration time of the Rimac Nevera, which is currently the world's most dynamic production car.
The billionaire added that production of the Tesla Roadster 2 should begin in 2024, and sales should be expected to start in 2025. Given the characteristics of the electric roadster, it is unlikely that it will be sold at the originally announced price of around $250,000.
