Prices for the entry-level Chery iCar 03 start at $15,250 instead of the previously announced $18,000.

China's Chery has launched sales of its new iCar 03 electric SUV in its home market. It rarely happens, but the final prices were lower than the originally promised 129,800-185,800 yuan ($18,000-25,800 USD):

  • Standard RWD 109,800 yuan (15,250 USD)
  • Advanced RWD 119,800 yuan (16,650 USD)
  • Long-range RWD 129,800 yuan (18,050 USD)
  • Long-range AWD 139 800 yuan (19 400 USD)
  • Long-range advanced AWD 159,800 yuan (22,200 USD)
  • Long-range intelligent-driving AWD 169,800 yuan (23,600 USD)

As we have previously reported, iCar is Chery's new electric car brand targeting the 25-35 age group. The 03 model is the brand's first production car.

The emphatically "square" iCar 03 measures 4,406 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, 1,715 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,715 mm.

The iCar 03 is available with one engine (RWD) or two engines (AWD). In all versions, the rear motor has a power output of 135 kW and a maximum torque of 184 Nm. The all-wheel drive version adds a front motor with an additional 70 kW and 95 Nm of torque.

The lithium-iron-phosphate battery pack from CATL is available in three versions: 50.6 kWh, 65.7 kWh and 69.8 kWh. The CLTC cycle range is claimed to be 401 kilometres, 501 kilometres and 472 kilometres respectively.

The cars in the higher equipment levels have a key with NFC and a multimedia information system powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. This system runs Chery's i-VA OS with a virtual assistant.

Chery plans to sell 10,000 iCar electric cars per month and earn 10,000 yuan ($1,400) per unit. Going forward, iCar will not only sell SUVs but also other categories of vehicles to be announced at the Beijing Motor Show.
