When it finally hits the streets, the R2 will be compatible with a range of smart accessories.

Much like the larger R1T pickup and R1S SUV, the latest addition to Rivian's growing line-up caters to the outdoorsy crowd with a host of optional goodies. The Travel Kitchen, for example, includes a water tank, a cooler, an induction cooktop with extra storage and even a set of cookware. Rivian even throws in some hanging lights for when you're cooking at night in the middle of nowhere.

As an alternative, the small kitchen can make way for a removable cargo box with handles on the sides and tiny wheels to move it around. It's good for things that would otherwise make a mess in the car, like a tiny portable pickup truck platform. The interior is also great for storing things, as you can fold not only the backseat but also both front seats flat. There's also a front boot.

What more? The roof box is nothing to write home about, but Rivian can swap it for a so-called Treehouse. It's a boxy roof tent that comes with a ladder for easy access. The rear-mounted bike rack attaches to the R2 without the need for tools and can hold two bikes. While some cars have built-in umbrella holders in the driver's door, the electric SUV uses the space for a torch.

The new Rivian R2 will unfortunately take a long time to reach the market. That's especially true in Europe (including the UK), where it won't be available until 2027. In the US, prices will start at around $45,000, but you'll be paying more for those accessories. It makes sense that the Euro version will be more expensive.
