"ST1" sounds like the equipment name of the Ford Fiesta ST or Focus ST, but this alphanumeric designation stands for "Service Type 1" - a special class of work vehicle.

Hyundai has announced the launch of an all-electric work van called the ST1. The exterior design of the van is innovative and futuristic, with elements borrowed from other brand models such as the Staria and Kona.

The ST1 was developed in collaboration with local delivery companies to meet the needs of small businesses in South Korea. "Workhorse" will be offered in three variants: cargo van, refrigerated van and basic chassis cab.

The van will get plastic protection around the perimeter of the body. The vehicle is also characterised by a low floor height for easier loading and unloading. Further details on specifications and pricing will be revealed in the first half of 2024 ahead of release in the Korean domestic market.

Hyundai also plans to produce and sell the ST1 in other regions once the ST1 goes on sale in Korea.
