This novel concept transforms the currently available three-door and five-door Suzuki Jimny models into something more robust and versatile.
The base for this transformation is an elongated five-door Suzuki Jimny. Modifications are significant and purposeful, featuring a wheelbase extension to fit a properly sized rear bed, making the rear overhang notably longer than that of the original car. The rear bed design borrows heavily from the Jeep Gladiator, showcasing pronounced taillights, a rear bumper with integrated steps, and prominent Suzuki lettering on the tailgate. Additionally, changes to the bodywork include modified rear doors that do not interfere with wheel arches and widened fender extensions.
Introduced in 2018, the fourth-generation Suzuki Jimny has seen several pickup conversions by enthusiasts but none officially by Suzuki itself. These renderings propose a compelling direction for future official adaptations of this beloved model.
Under its hood, the current Suzuki Jimny boasts a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter gasoline engine with an output of 105 horsepower and 134 Nm (99 lb-ft) of torque. However, converting it into a dual-cab pickup would necessitate a stronger powertrain to handle additional demands effectively.
Looking ahead, there's a mid-lifecycle update scheduled for 2024 which could introduce new powertrain options for the Jimny, including mild-hybrid and fully electric versions, specifically targeted at the European market. This update aims to infuse more power and charisma into the 4×4 model.
