Kempower, a Finnish electric vehicle (EV) charging manufacturer, has introduced a pioneering Megawatt Charging System for electric trucks. This new charging station boasts a power rating of over 1 megawatt (MW), aiming to address the electrification challenges faced by heavy-duty vehicles.

The launched Megawatt Charging System features peak power up to 1500A, 1.2 MW. It includes innovative solutions like the Mega Satellite for maximum compatibility and offers both high-power CCS and MCS plugs. The system is versatile, allowing MCS and CCS outputs within the same setup while dynamically sharing unused power across several outputs.

Tomi Ristimäki, CEO of Kempower, highlighted the company's commitment to sustainable mobility. He noted that developing solutions aligning with decarbonization goals provides competitive advantages in the sector. Ristimäki believes that transitioning to heavy-duty electric mobility benefits both the environment and truck drivers' quality of life by reducing noise and vibration.

According to a recent McKinsey report, by 2040, 85% of new trucks sold in Europe, the US and China will be zero-emission, mostly electric. This is a trend that will grow exponentially over the next decade, according to various European logistics and mobility experts and operators. But it also poses a number of challenges that will impact society at large in the coming decades. Kempower is ready to meet these challenges.
