Smart has released official sketches of the Concept #5, offering a glimpse of a production model that will debut later this year.

The largest and most spacious Smart to date will be unveiled in concept form at the Beijing Auto Show on April 25, with production slated for the second half of 2024. The #5 will join the #1 and #3 crossovers in the Smart lineup.

The Smart #5 is the third model to be jointly developed by Geely and Mercedes-Benz. According to Smart, the #5 will be the brand's "most spacious and versatile vehicle to date," designed for customers with an "active and open-minded lifestyle." While Smart has described the vehicle as a premium mid-size model, it is likely to be positioned towards the upper end of the compact segment, akin to the Mercedes GLB.

Special design features of the Concept #5 include interconnected lighting units resembling sunglasses. There are also unique accessories like a fancy roof rack equipped with inflatable chairs and winterboards, a folding shovel, and camping accessories such as an inflatable mattress and a portable Bluetooth speaker.

Expected to share the SEA platform with brands like Zeekr, Polestar, and Volvo, Concept #5 will likely feature dual electric motors and all-wheel drive capabilities. The company didn’t disclose the technical specifications, but it’s evident that the #5 will be longer than the #1 and #3, which measure 4,270 mm and 4,440 mm respectively.

Further insights into the Smart Concept #5 will be revealed on April 25 at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show. The company has confirmed that the production model will be unveiled in the second half of 2024.
