Tesla has just announced that its new Model 3 Performance can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds. This announcement was made on the sidelines of Tesla's latest quarterly report. The car can now be configured and purchased.

This improved model significantly outperforms the Tesla Model 3 Long Range, which takes 4.4 seconds to reach the same speed. It reaches a top speed of up to 262 km/h and has an impressive system output, which according to Tesla's US website is 510 hp, surpassing the older Long Range version.

The Model 3 Performance features an updated motor setup, including a new high-performance rear motor with up to 303 kW, which is complemented by the same 158 kW front motor used in the Long Range version. The combined torque is an impressive 741 Nm.

Despite its impressive performance, the vehicle has an energy consumption of around 16.7 kWh/100 km. This figure represents a slight increase on previous models, but offers a range of up to 528 kilometres on a single charge.

Tesla has improved several aspects of this version of the vehicle, including adjustments to the suspension with adaptive dampers and improvements to the braking systems with larger discs and optimised brake calipers. Inside, Tesla has added heavily contoured sports seats and other premium features such as carbon fibre trim.

The starting price of the Model 3 Performance is 56,990 euros - 7,000 euros more than the Model 3 Long Range, but 14,110 euros less than the similarly configured i4 M50 electric sports saloon from BMW. The first orders are already being taken and the first deliveries are planned for May.
