The attack on the Russian boat took place in the Vuzka Bay near Chornomorske, on the western coast of the occupied peninsula. The unmanned vehicle was operated by operators of the Group 13 special unit of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR).
The Magura V5 is a multi-purpose unmanned surface vehicle (USV) fully developed and manufactured in Ukraine. It can carry up to 320 kg of explosives and is mainly used to attack enemy ships and military bases at sea. During this operation, the drone was remotely controlled by operators of a special unit.
The footage shows a Ukrainian maritime drone approaching the anchorage of Russian boats. Noticing the approach of the marine drone, the occupiers opened fire on it. Judging by the density of fire, it could have been large-calibre machine guns.
According to the HUR, the fear of Ukrainian attacks forced the Russian Navy to relocate its large ships further away from the Crimean coast. Therefore, the Russian high-speed manoeuvrable warships are now being targeted.
Earlier, in February 2024, another significant achievement of the Magura V5 was the successful strikes on the Russian ships Ivanovets and Caesar Kunikov in the Black Sea. Both ships were sunk.
