Aston Martin is reportedly looking to capitalize on the huge success of its DBX SUV by turning it into a posh Land Rover Defender rival. The new derivative is known internally as "Project Rambo", a reference to the LM002 "Rambo Lambo".

Project Rambo is currently in the design phase. The approval of Lawrence Stroll, executive chairman of Aston Martin, is still pending. According to Autocar, the company plans to produce only 2,500 units of this special edition SUV.

This off-roader could get a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine from the AMG G63, currently delivering 577 horsepower and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque.

Mercedes-AMG already has the technology for much more power, but it's unclear whether Aston Martin will have access to it. The recently launched GT63 S E Performance pairs a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 with an electric motor for a combined 805 hp and 1,420 Nm (1,047 lb-ft). Those numbers would make the so-called Project Rambo the world's most powerful production SUV with an internal combustion engine.

With its high-end specs and limited production, this vehicle will likely carry a price tag higher than both the pre-facelift DBX707 ($245,085) and the 2025 AMG G63 ($188,000).
