This initiative kicked off on Kickstarter with an end goal of raising $26,830 by June 12, 2024.
The new systems from Fruble feature a camp kitchen, a comfortable sleeping area, and extensive storage space. These features are designed to fit seamlessly into Tesla and Rivian models, promoting convenience for users who enjoy outdoor activities. The company introduced two specific products: the Camper Kit Lite for the Tesla Model Y and the Camper Kit R1S for the Rivian R1S.
For those interested in supporting the project, the campaign is still active with less than 30 days remaining until its deadline. As an incentive, Fruble offers discounted rewards for both returning backers—currently at 17—and new supporters which now number over 40.
Detailing the product further, Fruble's Camper Kit Lite is configured mainly for the rear of Tesla Model Y but can be extended with an optional front section add-on. It's crafted from 12mm water-resistant Birchwood. The dimensions include a drawer measuring 33.31 x 21.02 x 3.15 inches (84.6 x 53.3 x 8 cm) and an outer structure standing at 37.64 x 35.95 x 5.83 inches (95.6 x 91.3 x 14.8 cm).
Similarly, the Camper Kit R1S designed for Rivian R1S vehicles also secures in the rear but offers additional mid and front sections as optional add-ons, enhancing storage or living space as required. This kit also uses durable, water-resistant Birchwood materials with dimensions set at a drawer size of 39.84 x 16.06 x 6.02 inches (101.2 x 40.8 x 15.3 cm) and an outer structure of 44.88 x 19.69 x 8.15 inches (114 x 50 x 20.7 cm).
Fruble's origins trace back to Jimmy Cheung's initiative driven by his concern over high costs, regular maintenance needs, and environmental impacts associated with traditional camper vans. He envisioned providing eco-friendly solutions geared towards outdoor enthusiasts wanting minimal impact on nature while enjoying modern conveniences.
