Ford announced the return of its electric racing prowess with a new F-150 that produces a remarkable 6,000 lbs (2.7 tons) of downforce at speeds of 150 mph (241 km/h). The vehicle is scheduled to compete in the prestigious Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 23, 2024.

Ford recently introduced its highly capable electric SuperTruck, which has been developed as an EV Demonstrator. This truck features a wide front splitter, vents behind the front wheels, and a massive rear diffuser. These components collectively contribute to its impressive downforce of 6,000 lbs (2.7 tons) when traveling at 150 mph (241 km/h).

The EV Demonstrator marks Ford's latest innovation following the recent introduction of the F-150 Switchgear earlier this year. The Switchgear was built on the Lightning platform and benefited from RTR’s collaboration, featuring skid plates, composite body parts, and new suspension systems aimed at enhancing durability and handling.

Ford previously showcased their expertise with the SuperVan 4.2 at Pikes Peak which offered robust performance driven by three motors summing up to 1,400 horsepower. The electric SuperVan 4.0 notably had four motors producing an incredible 2,000 horsepower.

Upcoming for this challenge is Romain Dumas taking the pilot seat for Ford at this year’s 102nd Edition of Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, where competitors like Hyundai are also expected with their modified Ioniq 5. This event could be pivotal for testing the advancements in electric vehicle technologies among leading automakers.
