The new electric M3 Touring tentatively designated as "ZA1," follows the upcoming Neue Klasse-based 3 Series and electric M3 sedan expected in 2026 and 2027 respectively. As for other models under the same platform, there are approvals for another next-gen gas-powered M3 and at least one electric sedan.
In a recent interview with Ars Technica, BMW M division head Frank van Meel shared insights into technical enhancements within these future vehicles. He mentioned upcoming designs that feature both dual-motor setups with rear-wheel drive and more powerful models equipped with all-wheel quad-motor layouts. These versions could boast around 700 horsepower.
